Story-
Elanesse was your normal eighteen year old. She finished school alright but didn't do so hot in college. She got herself suspended for bad grades at the end of her second year. She hopes the college will let her in someday. In the meantime she worked at a small convenient store for a little extra cash.
Her life was turned upside down the day of the murder though. She and her older brother Shuya were down in the subway system of Tokyo waiting for the subway when they were ambushed by Shuya's nemesis Hiroshi and his gang. Shuya was killed during the skirmish. Elanesse managed to get away with a few scratches and bruises.
She then mournfully wandered the ghettos of Tokyo. She was seen by a middle aged woman who offered her a place to stay. She accepted since she had been living with Shuya. As it turned out the woman was a decedent of the great samurai Sakura. Megumi, the woman, had great skills in the martial arts. They had been passed down from generation to generation since Sakura.
After hearing her story Megumi decided to train Elanesse in the martial arts, specifically in hand to hand combat. She trained under Megumi for a few years.
At the age of twenty one Elanesse had learned all that Megumi could teach her. Megumi said that Elanesse had to prove herself strong enough to take down the gang. She then suggested the SDL, and ancient dueling league for samurais. Apparently even though it is outlawed they still duel each other in the underground tunnels. So Elanesse left for the SDL and it's current contest.
